Do you compulsively clutter your desktop with screenshots? Does your phone constantly tell you you’re running out of storage? Do you find forgotten flash drives in jacket pockets, full of mystery files from times past? Do you discover things on your hard drive you must have downloaded but have no recollection of their origin? Have you ever been horrified to find a nude from your ex that somehow survived post-breakup deletion? Have you ever considered that you might be a digital hoarder?
Our lives are full of digital detritus, terabyte upon terabyte that may never be opened again. Perhaps this digital memory is analogous to the memories written in brain tissue, extant but rarely recalled. Perhaps a sort of digital subconscious exists, weighted by vast accumulations of data. DISK SPACE FULL asks you to excavate your personal archive and submit work based around the themes of hoarding, memory, and temporality in the context of digital media.
Work in all mediums will be considered, but must be documented in a format suitable for online exhibition.
Please send submissions and inquires to banalplatitudesofficial@gmail.com
